Although Entry To The Water Is Actively Discouraged If You Walk To The Dam At The Southern End Of The Lake, Just Beyond It Is A Fabulous Shallow Chalk Stream For Splashing Around In. I Suggest Parking Where The Finger Is Pointing On My Posted Map. Fonthill Is Famous For Its Huge 18Thc Country House, Long Since Demolished After It Part Collapsed! See Link To Find Out More About That. The Only Visible Remains Of The Abbey Are The Huge Arch And Urns At The North Entrance To The Estate, Just Off The B3089 At Fonthill Bishop. Took A While To Figure Out Where The Dogs To Be Let Of There Leads As They Aren't Allowed Around The Main Lake Because Of People Fishing, However There Are Other Areas In Which The Dogs Can Have A Good Splash About.
