There Is A Great Network Of Public Footpaths And Bridleways In The Vicinity Of Fonthill Gifford And Fonthill Bishop (See Map Image). Although Entry To The Water Is Actively Discouraged If You Walk To The Dam At The Southern End Of The Lake, Just Beyond It Is A Fabulous Shallow Chalk Stream For Splashing Around In. I Suggest Parking Where The Finger Is Pointing On My Posted Map. Fonthill Is Famous For Its Huge 18Thc Country House, Long Since Demolished After It Part Collapsed! See Link To Find Out More About That. The Only Visible Remains Of The Abbey Are The Huge Arch And Urns At The North Entrance To The Estate, Just Off The B3089 At Fonthill Bishop. Easy To Find If You Know Warminster, It's The First Time We've Been And My Husband, Myself And Two Dogs Really Enjoyed Ourselves. Took A While To Figure Out Where The Dogs To Be Let Of There Leads As They Aren't Allowed Around The Main Lake Because Of People Fishing, However There Are Other Areas In Which The Dogs Can Have A Good Splash About. Lovely Scenery Of The Main Lake And Surrounding Forest. You Can Hire Boats And Take On The Lake, Have A Nice Bike Ride Around (Which We Are Planning) Or Just Enjoy The Walk. The Rugby Club Itself Is A Fairly Flat Hill To Let The Dogs Run Around In There's A Footpath That Then Leads To The Dad's Joke Footpath/Walk And Can Walk Into The Town Centre From This Route.
