Welcome to Shafton

Shafton is a small village located in the South Yorkshire region of England. It is situated between the towns of Barnsley and Doncaster and is part of the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. The village has a population of around 2,000 people and is known for its rich history and beautiful countryside.

One of the main attractions in Shafton is the Shafton Two Gates Colliery, which was once a thriving coal mine in the area. The colliery closed in 1984, but the site has been transformed into a nature reserve and is now a popular spot for walking and birdwatching. The village also has a number of historic buildings, including the St. Mary's Church, which dates back to the 12th century.

Shafton is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the Pennine Hills to the west and the River Dearne running through the village.
