Welcome to Hewish

Hewish is a small village located in the county of Somerset, England. It is situated approximately 5 miles south of the town of Taunton and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village has a population of around 300 people and is known for its peaceful and rural setting.

The village of Hewish has a rich history dating back to the 11th century. It was originally part of the manor of Taunton and was owned by the Bishop of Winchester. In the 16th century, the village was sold to the Luttrell family who owned it until the 20th century. Today, the village is home to a number of historic buildings including the 13th century Church of St. Nicholas and the Grade II listed Hewish House.

Despite its small size, Hewish has a strong sense of community and is home to a number of local amenities including a village hall, a primary school, and a pub. The village also has a number of local events throughout the year including a summer fete and a Christmas fair. Hewish is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists due to its beautiful countryside setting and is also within easy reach of the Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
