The village of Garford has a rich history dating back to the 11th century. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and was known as "Gareford". The village was originally owned by the Bishop of Winchester and was later passed on to the Abbey of Abingdon. The village has a number of historic buildings including the 12th century St. Mary's Church and the 17th century Garford Manor House.
