Welcome to Newstead

Newstead is a small village located in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It is situated approximately 12 miles north of Nottingham city centre and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village is perhaps best known for its association with the famous poet Lord Byron, who lived at Newstead Abbey for a number of years. Today, the abbey is a popular tourist attraction and is open to the public for guided tours.

In addition to its literary connections, Newstead is also home to a number of historic buildings and landmarks. These include St Mary's Church, which dates back to the 12th century and features a number of interesting architectural features. These include the annual Newstead Abbey Dash, which sees runners from across the region compete in a challenging 10k race around the village and surrounding countryside. Other popular events include the Newstead Village Fete, which takes place in the summer and features a range of stalls, games and activities for all ages.
