Welcome to Hockerton

Hockerton is a small village located in the district of Newark and Sherwood, Nottinghamshire, England. The village is situated approximately 3 miles east of Southwell and 10 miles northeast of Nottingham. Hockerton is a rural village with a population of around 200 people. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists.

One of the most notable features of Hockerton is the Hockerton Housing Project. The project is a sustainable housing development that was built in 1998. The development consists of five earth-sheltered homes that are designed to be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. The homes are built into the hillside and are covered with grass and wildflowers. The project has won numerous awards for its innovative design and sustainable features.

Hockerton is also home to the Hockerton Railway Station. The station was opened in 1846 and served the village until it was closed in 1955. The station has since been restored and is now a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can take a ride on the miniature railway and learn about the history of the station. The station is also used for community events and is a popular venue for weddings and other celebrations.
