Welcome to Gotham

Gotham is a small village located in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It is situated approximately 10 miles south of Nottingham city centre and has a population of around 1,600 people. The village is known for its association with the fictional character Batman, as the name Gotham was used by the comic book creators as the inspiration for the name of the fictional city where Batman operates.

The history of Gotham dates back to the 11th century, when it was known as Gatham. The village was granted a market charter in 1295, which helped to establish it as a centre for trade and commerce. During the 17th century, the village became known for its annual Goose Fair, which still takes place today and attracts visitors from all over the country. In the 19th century, the village was home to a number of lace-making factories, which provided employment for many of the local residents.
