Shangton is a small village located in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. The village is situated approximately 10 miles east of Leicester and 5 miles south of Melton Mowbray. The village of Shangton has a rich history dating back to the 11th century. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and was known as "Scantone". The village was originally owned by the Earl of Leicester and was later passed on to the Bishop of Lincoln.
