Wheelton is a small village located in the borough of Chorley, Lancashire. It is situated on the banks of the River Lostock and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village has a rich history dating back to the 12th century when it was known as Wiveltone. The name Wheelton is believed to have been derived from the Old English words "wifel" meaning woman and "tun" meaning farmstead or village.

One of the most notable landmarks in Wheelton is St. James' Church, which dates back to the 16th century. The church is a Grade II listed building and features a beautiful stained glass window depicting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The village also has a number of other historic buildings, including the Old School House, which was built in 1840 and is now used as a community centre.

Despite its small size, Wheelton has a strong sense of community and is home to a number of local businesses and amenities. These include a post office, a village hall, and a number of shops and pubs. The village also has a primary school, which was rated "outstanding" by Ofsted in 2019.
