Farley Mount Country Park
Farley Mount Country Park Is Made Up Of Several Large Copses. There Is A Selection Of Gravelled Trails As Well As The Option To Go Through The Forested Areas. We Walked A Standard Circuit Through West Wood Round To Crab Wood Which Took About An Hour Although Much Longer Walks Are Possible. The Main Trail Is Fairly Easy To Follow And We Found It To Be A Lovely, Quiet Walk And Only Saw About Four People The Whole Time We Were Out. Please Note Though That Although There Are Several Car Parks To Access The Park Walks, They Are Off Sarum Rd Heading Towards Farley Mount Monument Which Is Pretty Much A Single Track Road So Be Prepared....Not Best Suited To Very Large Vehicles. There Are A Few Routes Up St Catherine’S Hill, Which All Start And End At A Convenient Car Park. Once At The Summit, The Walk Can Be Extended To Include The East Side Of The Hill. The Hill Has Been In Use For 3000 Years And The Summit With The Miz-Maze, The Ruined Norman Chapel Buried Under The Beech Trees, And The Deep Iron Age Ramparts, Affords Perhaps The Best View Of Winchester, The Cathedral And St Cross Church, From This Side Of The Valley.
