Takeley is a village located in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is situated approximately 3 miles northwest of Bishop's Stortford and 5 miles southeast of Stansted Mountfitchet. The village has a population of around 2,500 people and is known for its beautiful countryside, historic buildings, and friendly community.

One of the most notable landmarks in Takeley is the St. Mary the Virgin Church, which dates back to the 12th century. The church is a Grade I listed building and features a stunning Norman doorway, a 14th-century font, and a 15th-century rood screen. Another historic building in the village is the Takeley Priory, which was founded in the 12th century and served as a hospital for lepers. Today, the priory is a private residence and is not open to the public.

Takeley is also home to several local businesses, including a post office, a convenience store, and a pub. The village has a strong sense of community, with regular events and activities taking place throughout the year. This Is A Lovely Walk, It's Very Open Although There Are Some Wooded Areas. I Have Never Seen It Crowded Even On A Warm Summer Sunday. Some Of It Is Cow Field So For Those Parts It's Best To Have Your Dog On A Lead Although There Are No Signs Up Urging You To Do This. If You Want To Walk Further You Can Follow The River Stort For Miles, (A Number Of Pubs On Route). Within The Actual Park There Are Some Rolling Hills So I'm Not Sure About Wheel Chair Access. There Is A Railway Track Which Is Not Fenced Off Across The River And Along The Far Edge Of The Park, But You Don't Really Have To Go Anywhere Near This. Bonks Hill Lancashire 6.77 miles Just Outside Harlow, Essex, Heading North.
