Welcome to Burwash Common

Burwash Common is a small village located in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. The village is situated on the A265 road, which connects the towns of Heathfield and Hawkhurst. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. The village has a small population of around 500 people and is known for its friendly community spirit.

One of the main attractions of Burwash Common is the Burwash Common Windmill. The windmill is a Grade II listed building and is one of the few remaining windmills in the area. The windmill was built in the early 19th century and was used to grind corn until the early 20th century. Today, the windmill is open to the public and visitors can climb to the top of the windmill to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Another popular attraction in Burwash Common is the Bateman's House. The house was once the home of the famous author Rudyard Kipling and is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. The house is set in beautiful gardens and visitors can explore the house and learn about Kipling's life and the inspiration behind his famous works such as The Jungle Book and Kim. The house also has a tea room where visitors can enjoy a traditional English cream tea.
