Welcome to Codnor

Codnor is a small village located in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire, England. The village is situated on the eastern bank of the River Erewash and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village has a rich history dating back to the 12th century when it was known as Cotenoure. The village was once a thriving mining community, and evidence of this can still be seen in the form of the Codnor Park and Ironville Mining Museum.

One of the most notable landmarks in Codnor is the Codnor Castle. The castle was built in the 13th century and was once a grand fortress. Today, only the ruins of the castle remain, but they are still an impressive sight. The castle is surrounded by a moat and is situated on a hill, providing stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The castle is open to the public and is a popular destination for tourists.

Codnor is also home to a number of other historic buildings, including the St. James Church. The church dates back to the 12th century and is a beautiful example of Norman architecture. The church is still in use today and is a popular destination for visitors to the village. Codnor also has a number of pubs and restaurants, offering visitors a chance to sample some of the local cuisine and enjoy a drink in a traditional English pub.
