Welcome to Ashbourne

Ashbourne is a picturesque market town located in the southern part of Derbyshire, England. The town is situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park, which makes it an ideal base for exploring the stunning countryside. Ashbourne is known for its Georgian architecture, cobbled streets, and historic buildings. The town has a rich history that dates back to the 13th century, and it has managed to preserve its heritage over the years.

One of the most notable landmarks in Ashbourne is the St. Oswald's Church, which is a Grade I listed building. The church dates back to the 14th century and is known for its impressive architecture and stained glass windows. Another popular attraction in Ashbourne is the Ashbourne Hall, which is a historic building that has been converted into a hotel. The hall is known for its beautiful gardens and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Ashbourne is also famous for its annual Shrovetide football match, which is a unique tradition that dates back to the 17th century. The game is played on the streets of the town, and it involves two teams of players who try to score goals by hitting a ball against the goals that are located at either end of the town. The game is played over two days, and it attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.
