Sankey Bridges is a small village located in the county of Cheshire, England. The village is situated on the banks of the River Mersey and is known for its historic Sankey Bridges, which were built in the 18th century. The bridges were constructed to provide a crossing point for the Sankey Canal, which was used to transport coal from the mines in St Helens to the port of Liverpool.

The Sankey Bridges are a testament to the engineering skills of the 18th century. The bridges were designed by the famous engineer James Brindley and were constructed using local sandstone. The bridges consist of three arches, with the central arch being the largest. The bridges were built to withstand the weight of the coal barges that passed over them and are still in use today.
