Welcome to North Heath

North Heath, Berkshire, is a picturesque rural hamlet nestled in the heart of the English countryside. Located in the civil parish of Hampstead Norreys, this charming settlement is surrounded by lush green fields, dense woodlands, and gently rolling hills, making it an idyllic destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The hamlet's rich history, dating back to the Roman era, is evident in its well-preserved architecture and the remnants of ancient settlements that can be found scattered throughout the area.

One of the most striking features of North Heath is its abundance of natural beauty. The hamlet is situated within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a protected landscape that spans across four counties and covers over 670 square miles. This designation ensures that the area's unique character and stunning scenery are preserved for future generations to enjoy. Visitors to North Heath can take advantage of the numerous walking and cycling trails that crisscross the countryside, offering unparalleled opportunities to explore the region's diverse flora and fauna. The nearby Snelsmore Common Country Park, for example, is home to a variety of rare bird species, as well as a thriving population of wild ponies.

In addition to its natural attractions, North Heath boasts a rich cultural heritage that is deeply intertwined with the history of Berkshire. The hamlet is home to several listed buildings, including the Grade II-listed North Heath House, a beautiful example of Georgian architecture that dates back to the early 18th century. The nearby village of Hampstead Norreys is also steeped in history, with its 12th-century church, St. Mary's, and the remains of a medieval moated manor house. The area's agricultural roots are still evident today, with many local farms offering fresh produce and farm-to-table dining experiences that showcase the best of Berkshire's culinary traditions.
